We had the opportunity to participate in the ninth edition of Grain Academy 2025, one of the most renowned events in the grain and oilseed sector in Europe. Held in Varna, Bulgaria, on 30 October, this conference has established itself since its creation in 2016 as a key meeting point for experts, analysts and industry leaders from across the continent.
Our Sales Director, José Ángel Olivero, took part in the panel discussion ‘Navigating Trade in a Time of Abundance: Market Trends and S&D for 2025’, where he presented the paper ‘Trends of Vegetable Oil Consumption in Europe’. He was joined on the panel by Isabelle Tranter, Meteorologist at Aura Commodities; Christina Serebriakova, Analyst at ASAP Agri/Astria Brokers; and Malak Al Akiely, CEO of Golden Wheat for Grain Trading.

During his talk, José Ángel shared a detailed overview of vegetable oil consumption trends in Europe, highlighting issues such as the correlation between production, consumption and waste generation, as well as biofuels and pollutant mitigation in the food and bioenergy industries. His participation generated a valuable exchange of ideas and reaffirmed the importance of cooperation throughout the entire value chain.
Grain Academy has established itself as a unique space for knowledge exchange and the creation of strategic alliances in the agri-food and biofuel sectors. LIPSA’s presence at this event reflects our commitment to sustainability and to bringing an expert perspective to the conversations that are defining the future of vegetable oils in Europe.
We would like to thank Grain Academy for its excellent organisation and for bringing together the main players driving the development of the sector.
